While working at Mudlark Theater in Evanston, Illinois, I designed a poster for their upcoming Robin Hood play.  I designed a few different versions of the poster, but the theater felt that the silhouette was the best representation of the show and selected it for use.  I added the moonlight and fog effects to give the forest background a more mysterious appearance.  This poster was created by drawing a pencil sketch of the Robin Hood profile and importing it into Adobe Illustrator, where I was able to design the forest around the image of Robin Hood.
The first step of my design process of the Robin Hood poster was doing some online research.  I started gathering ideas and inspiration on Pinterest.  I created an Art Board and collected images that inspired me.
Next, I started making different sketches of Robin Hood and the environment surrounding him such as the forest, hat, and bow and arrow.
After making some sketches, I imported them into Adobe Illustrator and traced them in order to convert them into vector shapes.  Then I added color and came up with some first drafts of the poster.
I wanted to keep trying to design something a little different and more simple, so I drew some more sketches and came up with some more poster drafts that I presented to my supervisors.  They wanted to go with the poster showing the forest with the moonlight, but I still needed to add a silhouette of Robin Hood to it.
I drew some sketches of the Robin Hood silhouette to be added to the poster.  I imported the sketch that I liked the most into Adobe Illustrator and traced it, then added black color to make it look like a silhouette.  Next, I created the bow and added it to the silhouette.  I also created the trees for the forest in Adobe Illustrator, then added the background color, gradients, light for the moon effect, created the ground and all of the other details needed for the poster.  Finally, I added the title and other text that I was given to add to the poster.
Below you can see the final poster.  My supervisors and coworkers were happy with the end result and the poster was used for the Robin Hood show.  I was given the opportunity to attend the Robin Hood play and I really enjoyed it.
